Sony 24X SCSI CD-ROM. Model CDU-625. This 50 pin SCSI, tray load CD drive is new.
While it is not an Apple drive, it should be supported already by your Mac. Most non Apple CD-ROM drives are bootable. Put a bootable CD in the drive and hold down cmd-opt-shift-delete immediately after startup. Apple drives use the “C” key instead. Audio functionality may vary as Apple liked to use their own connectors.
If needed, Apple 5.3.1 driver (System 7.5 and up) and others are available from the Mac Driver Museum.
