iDock for iMac G3
Description
The iDock is a late-1990s expansion accessory from CompuCable (iPeripheral), designed specifically to sit beneath the original tray-loading Bondi Blue iMac G3 and later complement the slot-loading models. Released as the iMac was redefining the consumer Mac in 1998-1999, the iDock solved two practical problems at once: it added a swiveling base so the all-in-one could be rotated 30 degrees in either direction, and it restored the legacy connectivity that the iMac had famously dropped. Through a single USB connection to the host iMac, the iDock provides three downstream USB ports plus two Apple Mini-DIN-8 serial/GeoPort connectors and a DB-25 parallel port, allowing owners to keep using their StyleWriters, ImageWriters, LocalTalk peripherals, and PC parallel printers. Bundled PowerPrint-style drivers handle the serial ports and parallel printer support under Classic Mac OS.
