PowerBook Duo 230 with Duo Dock
Description
PowerBook Duo 230, M7777. Introduced in 1992 at $2610, this compact lightweight (4.2 lbs) PowerBook features a 33 MHz 68030 processor and a 9.1″ grayscale passive matrix display – “Supertwist”. Until the MacBook Air, the Duo’s were the smallest and lightest laptop produced by Apple. To achieve this, the Duo had a smaller keyboard and trackball, a docking connector and a mini din 8 serial port. Everything connected through the docking connector – Duo Dock for turning into a desktop computer, minidocks and microdocks for different ports and functionality.
Duo Dock, M7779. The DuoDock turns the PowerBook Duo into a fully featured desktop Macintosh by adding a 1.44MB floppy disk drive, serial ports, sound, modem, Apple DB-15 video, and ADB along with nubus expansion slots. It also can allow for a second hard drive, more vram an FPU to make performance better.
*There one complete set of manuals – optional with purchase. An extra battery (non working) will be included with this package as well.
Sold as a combo – PowerBook Duo with Duo Dock. Comes with standard A/C power cable for the DuoDock and a Power Adapter for the Duo. To get them to work, they all had to sit overnight plugged in. Likely need recapped. Sold As-is.
A) SN: FC2471KFC78. This PowerBook features 12MB Memory, 1.44MB SuperDrive, 100MB hard drive with Sytem 7.5 installed and some apps. Case is in good condition, top lid latch broken. Hinges move nicely. Feet are sticky and have tape over them.
Duo Dock SN: TF313169G09. The Dock functions and ejects just fine and has a networking card (DB-15 and RJ-45 ports) installed in the expansion slot. Case has overall medium discoloration, lighter on top. Floppy drive reads, writes and ejects. No key for this one.
B) SN: FC3190A8C71. This PowerBook features 16MB Memory, 120MB hard drive with System 7.5 installed and some apps. Has the rare and expensive internal 14.4 Express Modem. Case is in good condition, small crack in the case on the bottom towards the front. Hinges move nicely. Feet are sticky and have tape over them. All PowerBook photos are this computer except the last photo of the screen.
Duo Dock SN: TF2502CZG09. The Dock functions and ejects just fine. Case has overall light discoloration, maybe a little darker on the front and left side. Missing a foot. Floppy drive reads, writes and ejects. All dock photos except the last are this one. This one has a key – it has been bent at some point.
