Description

SyQuest Technologies were a very popular removable cartridge hard drive in the ’80’s and ’90’s. It’s major competitor at the time was the Iomega Zip Drive. While faster and better than a Zip, they never captured the home market. The disks are bootable with a suitable operating system installed. SyQuest Utilities can be found here. They are version 4.1 and are fully compatible with System 7.0, 68020 processor and PowerPC.

Available in 44MB, 45MB, 88MB, 105MB, 135MB, 230MB, 270MB, these removable disks were popular in industries that needed to send, exchange, or archive large files such as graphic designers, desktop publishing industry and many more. Predecessor to what we use USB flash drive for these days.

Many manufactures jumped on board and put a Syquest drive into their own external housing.
