We now offer servicing on Apple internal and external floppy disk drives.

Third party external drives and internal drives from clones are not part of this service as they are all different and we don’t have parts for them. So your drive needs to have come from inside your Mac or Apple IIc/IIc+ OR from (or still) inside an Apple branded external housing.

Prepay for the service and mail in your drive (this expense is yours). Allow for 1 to 2 weeks for your drive to be processed. You will be given status updates and notified if and what parts are needed. An invoice will be sent when finished for return shipping and any additional parts.

Apple 3.5 Disk Drive Service

• 400K drive MUST have the head button, or it is unrepairable and we can’t do anything with it. You must remove the drive from the Macintosh or External housing (M0130) and look at it.
• 800K drive (internal (Sony F51W) or external drives – Unidisk 3.5 (A2M2053), Apple 3.5 Drive (A9M0106), 800K External Drive (M0131))
• 1.4MB drive early (Sony F75W), or rare external SuperDrive FDHD (G7287)
• 1.4MB drive late (so far, there is no repair available on these – they just need the dust bunnies blown out and the head cleaned. You can do this) Sony MPF 42A, MPF 52A, or Mitsubishi MF355F

Labor is for cleaning and re-greasing (servicing) and testing the drives, parts (if available) will be additional.

 

Apple 5.25 Disk Drive Service

• Disk II Drive
• Unidisk
• DuoDisk *(two drives in this unit)(this is a quantity of 2 when you purchase the service)
• 5.25 Drive
• Internal or external IIc Drive

Labor is for cleaning inside the drive and the head, speed adjustment, and component testing (analog board). Parts (if available) will be additional.

Please note that some drives are so badly damaged that they are unrepairable! If you already know your drive is likely beyond repair, we probably can’t help you.

If we determine that your drive falls into that category, you may get a little credit (we have already expended labor to get to this point) towards a good working, serviced drive – if available, and we will keep your old drive for parts.
