AppleTalk LocalTalk Connector Box & Cable

They are referred to both ways! It looks like Apple changed the name from AppleTalk to LocalTalk for the hardware.

Early connector boxes have a 9 pin plug (DB-9) to connect to your computer’s serial port. Macintosh 128K, 512K, 512Ke
Late connector boxes have a round 8 pin (mini-din) to connect to your computer’s (or printer’s) serial port. Apple IIGS and IIc Plus. All Macintosh computers from the Plus through the beige G3, and printers such as the ImageWriter II.
Each device (up to 32) you want to add to your network needs a connector box. Special cables (3 pin) run between the boxes. Cable extenders turn two 6′ cables into one 12′.
All items available in beige (boxes will be white with beige cables) or gray (platinum).
