Apple GeoPort Telecom Adapter. Model: M2117. Emulates and functions as a low cost modem without an external power adapter.

Introduced with the Quadra 660AV and 840AV. This modem plugs into the yellow GeoPort connector (or may be marked with a pippin) on Macintosh computers. This port replaces the modem and or printer port with 9 pins instead of 8 pin serial. The 9th pin provides 5 volts to power Geoport devices. The port is backwards compatible with regular 8 pin devices and cables. Became available a bit more in PowerPC Macs. You can easily count the pins on your printer or modem port. If it has 9, it is a Geoport.
